Getting started

Find your way around Dinerly

What each part of the dashboard does, so you know where to look for the thing you need.

Everything in Dinerly is reached from the menu down the left-hand side of the screen. If you are on a phone or a tablet there is not enough room to show that menu all the time, so it is hidden behind the menu button in the top-left corner. Tap that button and the same list slides out.

What each section is for

  • Home gives you your day at a glance: what you have taken so far, the bookings for today that are still waiting for you to confirm them, and buttons to start an order or add a booking without hunting for the right page. This is also the page you come to when the kitchen is overwhelmed and you need to pause online orders for a while.
  • Point of Sale is the till. You use it to ring up orders in the restaurant, at the counter or over the phone, and to take the payment when the customer is ready.
  • Orders is the record of every order you have taken, whether it came in online or was rung up on the till, with the full detail of each one so you can look back and see exactly what happened.
  • Reservations covers the bookings side of the business: today’s bookings, the plan of your tables, and the rules that decide what customers are allowed to book.
  • Menu is where your menus, categories, dishes, options and prices live.
  • Reviews collects the feedback customers leave after they have eaten with you or ordered from you.
  • Offers is where you create discounts, promo codes and deals.
  • Analytics shows you how the business is doing over time, rather than just today.
  • Delivery holds the areas you deliver to, along with the charge and the minimum order value you apply to each of them.
  • Holidays is for the days that do not follow your normal week, either because you are closed or because you are working different hours.
  • Customers is the list of the people who order and book with you, and what they have done in the past.
  • Payouts follows the money from online payments as it makes its way into your bank account.
  • Settings holds everything that describes this particular location: your details, your opening hours, your order rules, your printers and your tables.

Switching between restaurants and locations

If you run more than one place, choose the one you are working on from the location selector at the top of the dashboard. This matters because everything you look at and everything you change afterwards — menus, orders, printers, hours — belongs to the location that is selected. If you change a price while the wrong location is showing, you will have changed it in the wrong restaurant.

To move to a different business altogether, rather than another location of the same business, open your account menu by clicking your name or photo and choose Change Restaurant.

Changing the language

Open your account menu and choose Language. Dinerly remembers the language you choose on that particular device rather than on your account, which means the tablet in the kitchen and the laptop in the office can happily be in different languages to suit whoever is using them.

If a section is missing, it is probably not a fault. Some parts of Dinerly, Payouts being the usual one, are only shown to owners and admins, because they show what the business is earning. If you need to get into something you cannot see, ask an owner of your business to give you access.
