Add modifiers (add-ons) to an item

Let customers customise an item with add-ons and choices — set them as required or optional, single or multiple, and reuse them across items.

Modifiers let customers customise an item with add-ons and options — “Add bacon”, “Choose your sauce”, “Extra shot”. You add them from within the item.

Attach modifiers to an item

  1. Open the item (Menu → Items → click the item) and find the Modifiers section.
  2. Choose one of:
    • Select existing modifiers — pick a modifier you’ve already made from the dropdown (each shows how many options it has).
    • Create new modifiers — opens the New modifier dialog. The modifier is added to this item and saved so you can reuse it on others. Click Create & add.
  3. Click Save Changes on the item.

Set the rules for a modifier

Each attached modifier is a card. Open it to edit:

  • Name and the list of Options (add options, set a price for each, mark one as default, or switch an option Off when out of stock).
  • Required — turn on if customers must choose. When required, pick a Selection type:
    • Exactly — they must pick an exact number (e.g. exactly 1).
    • Range — set a Min and Max.
    • Leave Required off for “pick as many as you like” (optional).
  • Let customers pick more than one of the same option — allow, say, 3× Extra hummus. You can then cap it with a Max per item.

Reuse a set of modifiers: Modifier Groups

If you attach the same handful of modifiers to lots of items, bundle them into a Modifier Group:

  1. In Menu, click Create → New Modifier Group.
  2. Give it a Group Name (e.g. Pizza extras), an optional description, and add the modifiers that belong in it.
  3. Attaching the group to an item adds all of those modifiers at once.

So: attach modifiers one at a time on the item, or use a group as a shortcut to add several together. Groups live on the Groups tab of the Menu Manager.
